Supplements Dr Kim personally takes

Please note: this page lists supplements and medications that Dr Kim personally takes, or has taken, for his own self goals. It is shared for transparency only.

This is NOT medical advice, and it’s not a recommendation or endorsement of any supplement, medication, dose, or brand. What Dr Kim chooses for himself (with the assistance of his own physician) may be different from what he recommends to his patients in his clinic, where decisions are based on individual medical history, lab data, and overall risk profile.
Do not start, stop, or change any supplement or medication without first speaking with your own physician, as individual needs vary, and many supplements require medical supervision.

This list is updated periodically as new research and clinical data becomes available.

Current Supplements:

Magnesium Glycinate (Pure Encapsulations)

Magnesium is incredibly important for almost every aspect of good health. It’s estimated that over half of US population does not get enough magnesium in their diet. There’s many different forms of Magnesium, but for the time being, I take Mg Glycinate, as it’s very bioavailable (easily absorbed), and it’s easier on the GI tract.

Omega-3 / Fish Oil (Metagenics)

Omega-3s are crucial for cardiovascular health, inflammation, and cognitive function. I aim to get my Omega-3 index to between 8-12% and I haven’t been able to get there with food alone. For my supplement, I try to get the triglyceride form and that is IFOS certified

Vitamin D3 (Nordic Naturals)

Vitamin D is critical to maintain a healthy immune system, cognitive health, bone health.
I currently pair my D3 with K2 (MK-7), but the evidence for K2 for cardiovascular health is not that strong. In my personal situation, the risk of adding K2 is extremely small, I’m keeping K2 on board until more definitive evidence comes out

Creatine (Naked)

Creatine is helpful not only for energy and exercise performance, but there’s evidence that suggests it can improve memory and general cognitive function and metabolic health

Probiotic - Akkermansia (Pendulum)

Akkermansia has promising early evidence in helping with insulin sensitivity and strengthening the gut barrier. It also helps produce innate GLP-1 and may improve immune function
